SHORTHORNS

 Bungulla Shorthorns established in 2001 using females from Bundaleer Shorthorns. Additional females were purchased at the Erambie Shorthorns dispersal in 2004. The breeding herd number now is 180 high quality registered females. Bungulla is focused on generating bulls that are going to enhance the commercial beef producer’s ability to breed early maturing, high marbling cattle with consistent muscling.

MERINOS

 Bungulla Merino Stud was founded in April in 1972 by Geoff and Enid Capel at “Bungulla”, Mudgee, NSW. The stud was moved to “Calool” Manilla in January 1974. Bungulla merinos are known for their good structure, soft, stylish, well-nourished wool and their ability to thrive in high rainfall and pastoral areas. The stud focuses on producing sheep with high fertility, heavy muscling and an early maturing pattern.

Bungulla continues to be a family owned and operated business, principle Peter Capel takes meticulous care in selecting Sires and Ewes that are going to be the future genetic basis of the stud, to ensure the Bungulla genetics will always breed on for clients.  

The mixed age ewe flock of 2700 consistently produces 7.6kg of 19.5-20 micron wool with 97% average lambing. 

2008 Poll Merino Stud was established consisting of 250 Poll Ewes annual on property  Ram Sale is in October, selling 108 Merino and Poll Merino Rams sold by Auction. A further 250 Grade Rams are sold by private selection.
